Hubert was een jongen van 16 jaar. Hubert had veel puistjes, en zijn haar zat eigenlijk altijd à la Balkenende. Zijn beste kameraad en klasgenoot heette Jan-Ype, en praatte een beetje met een Friese tongval. Dit vond Hubert niet storend, hij was al lang blij dat er iemand zijn vriend wilde zijn!
Na schooltijd gingen ze vaak met hun laarzen door het bos wandelen, dat was altijd dolle pret! Ooit beklommen ze de hoogste en meest mysterieuze heuvel van het bos.
